Mrs. Frances Royal Allen, 58, of Veedersburg, a former Mellott resident died Tuesday (June 22, 1971) at Home Hospital, Lafayette. She had been in failing health several years. Born Feb 29, 1912 in Mellott, she was the daughter of Charles and Flora Hibbs Royal. She married Terrence Derrington who died in 1936. She remarried in 1956 to Archie T. Allen. Mrs. Allen attended Mellott Elementary school and was a member of the New Antioch Church in Mellott. She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Claude Kochell of Lafayette; a son, Terry Derrington of Orlando, FL and 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers. Services Tuesday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hiillsboro with Rev. Walter C. Williams officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Veedersburg – Funeral services for Mrs Frances Allen, age 59, a member of the Antioch Christian Church of Mellott, who died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday June 22 at Home Hospital in Lafayette were held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Walter Williams officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery here. Mrs. Allen who had been in failing health several years, was born Feb 29, 1912 the daughter of Charles and Flora Hibbs Royal. She attended the Mellott School. She first married Terrance Berrington who preceded her in death in 1936. In 1956 she married Archie T. Allen who survives. Surviving in addition to the husband are one son, Terry Berrington of Orlando, Fla; one daughter, Mrs. Claudia Kochell of Lafayette and five grandchildren.
